(ANZAC DAY LONG WEEKEND)
A Shamanic Healing Retreat with shamanic wisdom walkers and teachers Dr Corn and Heather Price.
How This Retreat Has Come About
Recently, during the 2024 Christmas holidays, my beloved, Dr Corn, and I spent some time together in Maclean, a sleepy little riverside village a half hour's drive from the ocean northern NSW. We explored several riverside and seaside villages and fell in love with the area. Corn has worked in emergency medicine in the area on and off for many years and knows it well.
This was a dream come true for me for I had long felt a call to explore this part of the country that I knew had Scottish and Celtic roots and which is on the same latitude as where I was born seven hours drive inland from the ocean. I had been visiting the Clarence River at the nearby village of Ulmarra for as long as I had been travelling down the Pacific HIghway from Brisbane to Sydney and each time I could feel the river spirit calling me to hold a gathering there. It was lovely to be finally visiting the region with time to spare to explore.
Early every morning, while Corn was working, I would rise early and set out to find the poles that were covered in the tartan of my Scottish ancestors on both sides of my family. This was no simple task as the poles bearing tartans from many Scottish clans were scattered throughout every street, high and low, in the village and the shops that would normally carry maps of their placement were closed until the day after we were to leave. The online map was too blurred to find my way, so I had to work meticulously street by street on my hunt to find the symbol of my ancestors.
Each tartan that I passed called me to stop and reflect on its intricate pattern and some names like 'Wallace', 'Bruce' and 'McPherson', the latter being the name and tartan of Corn's maternal Ancestors, were familiar and stirred something deep in my heart.
Finally on the second day of my intense scrutiny of scores of ancestral tartans, after finding the tartan marked McPhie matching my maternal lineage the day before, I came across two poles opposite the old graveyard that were painted with the dress and hunting tartans of my paternal line of McDuff. I was so excited to find the familiar tartans of my father's line.
During my hunt I noticed a huge Fig Tree (love Fig trees!) in the graveyard opposite the poles displaying my ancestral tartans and felt drawn to explore further. Passing the gravestones on the way to greet the glorius old Grandmother Fig, I began to read the headstones of some of those who had lived in this quaint village over a hundred and fifty or more years earlier. I saw that one man died 35 years before his wife, and I wondered how she survived such a lonely life in what would have been an isolated place all those years ago.
While standing at the grave of the man and his widow I looked to the north and could see where the two branches of the Clarence river met not far away. My heart stirred at the thought of how those two branches became one when they met and reflected on how it might have been similar for the souls of the man and his long-grieving widow to be finally re-united at the time of the widow's death.
Reflecting in these ways, I could feel my ancestors whispering to me that we too would be one day united and my heart was full of love for them and all that they had blessed me with, handing down their love for the land, their yearning for adventure and their resilient spirit.
In that moment I knew I wanted to share my experience with others, to bring them to that place where I stood and teach them how to release the unfinished business and inherited burdens of their ancestors, and assist them to embrace the amazing gifts they have been blessed with.
Feeling fully inspired, I walked quickly back to our cottage to share my dreaming with Dr Corn who became equally enthusiastic and keen to join me on this exciting quest, and to invite others on this adventure.
Thus, our the idea of our Ancestral Healing and Transformation Retreat was birthed and we have been planning the details ever since. We have finally made arrangements for our retreat and are excited to be now able to make our offerings to you.
Some of the wonderful outcomes and adventures that you can anticipate to experience of this heart-warming and inspirational retreat include:
-
You will experience and be blessed by the etheric energies and medicines of Ancestors of local traditional tribes and Country that permeate the land, great river and sky and all in between.
-
You will develop a broader perspective of who you are within an ancient map of wisdom.
-
You will have a greater realisation of what it is that you really want to co-create within and for yourself and those you love and travel with.
-
You will discover, by tracking the his/herstory and imprints of your Ancestors that persist on physical (phantom and persistent illness) emotional (relationships breakdown mysteriously), spiritually (you feel abandoned and forsaken for some unknown reason) and mentally (you keep regressing into negative thought patterns despite knowing better). You will discover and transform family patterns that may be resisting your dreams and visions to manifest and your general health and wellbeing, bringing this to the light and using shamanic methodologies to shift and transform old energy and generate and activate new energy and new ways to move forward.
-
You will enjoy a creative and exciting experience of clarifying and measuring your energy - what is yours and what you carry for your Ancestors and others as unfinished business and learn transformative ways to shift unwanted energy burdens.
-
You will deepen your sense of being a partner and active Co-creator in life’s unfolding.
-
You will develop clear steps toward co-creating your dreaming to take over time.
-
You will enjoy the beauty and bounty of the great 'Clarence' River and add it to a collection of sacred waters and essences for ceremony and celebration.
-
On the final day, you will be exploring in shamanic ways with a group of fellow like-hearted journeyers in a river-side village full of tartan totem poles and symbols that is known to be where 'old people' from Celtic lands chose to settle and instil everlasting values and principles that may still run through the blood and energy lines of this country we know collectively as Australia.
-
And, you will have fun connecting and sharing stories and transformative experiences with fellow adventurers around a table of healthy, rejuvenating food, along the shorelines, and in circles of song, mantras, and sacred crystal activations, shamanic journeys. We are delighted to have beautiful transformative healing practitioner and amazing story-teller and intuitive guide Joanne Ross joining us to share stories of the Celtic Spirit. Jo will be available for private consultations as an addition to our general offerings.
-
Discounts are available when you bring your partner along to share the journey - and your room.

The following information describes the retreat location and shows how the options have been formed.
About the Retreat Location:
Ulmarra is about 3 hours drive from CBD Brisbane, about 23 minutes further on from Maclean and 15 minutes from Grafton. The venues in Ulmarra that we have chosed are well appointed and lovely with 2 share houses in the quaint village of Ulmurra. One house is on the river, and the other is nearby in a lovely old recently beautifully rennovated buidling in Ulmurra. The second home has one room with its own ensuite which unfortunately is already booked by another unknown party for two of the nights. There is scarce availability of accommodation in Ulmurra so we have chosen to take the other three bedrooms in this house. The premises of kitchen and living space are also shared by the unknown party, however we will not be using the extra premises in this accommodation as a meeting place.
There are a total of 8 bedrooms in two houses already pre-booked in our name. With an extra studio accommodation and training space for Dr Corn and myself in a third premises. All bedrooms, except one with two king singles, have a queen size or double bed fully made up with all linen provided.
We chose this village because of its beautiful aspect and easy access to the Clarence River and because it is a quiet, peaceful village and the houses are close to each other. There are no retreat spaces in this area and very poor offerings for training venues. Our numbers will be small enough to meet in the house by the river, and also hoping to be able to meet in Corn and my residence as well. There are still some things to be fine-tuned, however I am doing this as soon as I can travel to Ulmarra for this purpose.
Accommodation Price:
$390.00 per head (average price $130 per head per night. This price is included in final offers. This calculation is at Air B & B cost price for us plus a tiny margin in one house to assist some attendees to attend the retreat and toward our own accommodation cost).
Food: $200 a head with most meals but not all provided. This price is included in the final offers. This includes healthy ingredients prepared by us and a catering assistant with your dietary needs considered providing:
💚 Three dinners, two lunches, and 2 days with morning and afternoon tea. See more below in the proposed schedule.
💚 You will be able to make your own breakfast with continental ingredients provided by the hosts of the air b and b in your accommodation (We will provide eggs and gluten free bread additionally).
Sunday is Self Sufficient Day: You can take some fruit for a snack and will be asked to buy your own lunch on Sunday as we will be out and about early looking at ancestral tartan poles and exploring the nearby historical village of Maclean. We meet for lunch at a lovely cafe afterwards.
Tuition & Guidance: Friday eve, Saturday/Eve, Sunday/Eve and Monday until lunch.
This will vary, to create three options, between 340/475/ and $550 per person for the entire retreat with Heather and Dr Corn teaching and guiding. Only two places at the lowest offer are available.
